A Different Future

Good Intentions Are Not Enough

For decades, global health has been driven by passionate individuals seeking to improve lives. Yet many well-intentioned efforts have struggled because they lacked community partnership, ethical reflection, or long-term sustainability. Akomapa exists to help build a different future.

Students as Changemakers

Students Have Always Changed Healthcare

Throughout history, students have challenged assumptions, advanced research, strengthened communities, and helped shape the future of medicine and public health. At Akomapa, we believe students are not simply the leaders of tomorrow — they are partners in creating change today.

Why We Began

The Silent Epidemic

Non-communicable diseases are among the leading causes of death worldwide, yet millions remain undiagnosed, untreated, or disconnected from care. Akomapa was founded in response to this challenge. Through community partnership, ethical leadership development, and healthcare innovation, we are building a new generation of leaders committed to addressing the NCD epidemic and advancing health equity.

Responsible Health Innovation

Akomapa-built · Public beta

Nkwapa connects care, learning, and evidence.

Nkwapa is Akomapa's offline-first patient management system, built to help community health hubs deliver safer, more continuous care while strengthening student training. It supports screening, visit documentation, referrals, follow-up, clinical supervision, and responsible use of program data—even when connectivity is limited.

  • Continuity for every patient

Connects screening, visit history, referrals, and follow-up so care does not end when an outreach day does.

  • Training with clinical oversight

Gives student teams structured workflows while helping supervisors review care and reinforce responsible practice.

  • Built for low connectivity

Keeps essential patient-management workflows moving in settings where internet access is limited or unreliable.

  • Evidence for improvement

Consistent data capture supports quality improvement, community learning, and stronger health-system decisions.
